I am a painter and I also taught for a number of years, 43 actually at the Art Institute. I’ve been painting views of the city – particularly this view of Quality Hill and also view in Penn Valley and then I go to Loose Park later on. So those are the subjects that I paint for 6 months of the year. I then move to my studio, which is in the West Bottoms where I’m painting. It’s a very important subject for me. This subject for example I’ve been painting for probably 35 years and it still is exciting to me. Not to look at the subject, I’m really am involved in the study of it. That’s all. That’s my objective in painting. Kansas City has this and this afternoon I will go to my spot in Penn Valley Park up by the Scout. So I feel very fortunate to be able to paint these subjects. That is all I can say. It is a privilege to wake up every morning and paint. I paint 6 days a week. Six hours a day. Three hours on one painting, lunch, and then 3 hours on the next. Right now it’s about time for me to go to lunch.
