I'm sorry. I know you guys have seen a hundred pictures of #UnionCemetery already. It's just so beautiful, and I needed to be reminded what LEAVES ON TREES look like, even if it's from an autumn #flashback (picture taken a mere 48 hours before the remainder of those #leaves fell to the ground). I LOVE that I get to look out at the oldest (and reportedly haunted ) #graveyard in #KansasCity. There are so many interesting people buried here, ranging from Native Americans (some whose remains were later moved here), people who died of plague outbreak, soldiers from the Civil War (including a fed notoriously bad guys), among others. Many children's graves (likely from the "plague" outbreak), some not even bearing last names. Something that is particularly interesting to me -- Apparentky the father of a child, who is buried here, committed suicide at that child's grave, out of grief and sorrow. Paranormal investigators and regular folks both report that this father's energy has not left the cemetery. Either way, a heartbreaking, but historically intriguing, tale it is. And can you believe this hilly, tree-lined plot of land is right in the middle of downtown/midtown? I get the best or both worlds here. The perks of urban life, having access to things without even setting foot in a car, and the lush, green grass and parks and NATURE, right at my fingertips. Heart this historic lil' neighborhood. #UnionHill #KCMO #urbancemeteries #urbangraveyards #urbanneighborhoods | KC Parks Instagram Photos
