Participants will learn about the history of fly fishing and how to cast a fly rod.  A mock-stream will be set up for participants to practice catching and identifying fish species.

Kayaking with simulator

Have you ever wanted to try kayaking but didn’t know where to begin? You’re in luck! Missouri State Parks is offering to teach you how to paddle. Staff will be offering free kayaking instruction. This will be a great opportunity to try something new. Class will cover ground school instruction and an opportunity to try out a kayak simulator on land. You supply the enthusiasm and an eagerness to discover nature and a new skill.

Camping 101

A weekend outdoor with family promises quality bonding time.  Many State Parks have various levels of camping accommodations at a reasonable price for families.  The campsites serve as a base site to gather up after a long day of exploring the park.  Participants will learn the basics of tent camping including tent set-up, camping etiquette, safety, and fire building skills.
