          SITE LOCATION:  Swope Pkwy. & Meyer Blvd. STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, & OPPORTUNITIES

        CLASSIFICATION:                Park            Swope Park is the flagship park of Kansas City and the largest property
        COUNCIL DISTRICT:                    5         in the system.  It is the home to major cultural destinations such as the

        PARK DISTRICT:                                 Zoo and Starlight Theater.  It is also home to several major park and
                                                       recreation facilities such as the Southeast Community Center and
        ESTABLISHED:             1896                  Lakeside Nature Center, both of which are detailed later in this report.
        ACREAGE:            1805 acres                 This assessment did not include an inventory of the golf or aquatic
                                                       facilities.  What attracts many to this park aside  from the attractions
        PARK AMENITIES                                 mentioned above are the more passive pursuits accommodated by
