SITE LOCATION: I-435 & Holmes Rd. STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, & OPPORTUNITIES

CLASSIFICATION: Athletic Complex Blue River Athletic Field is owned by Jackson County and managed in
COUNCIL DISTRICT: 6 partnership with KC Park. It’s located just south of Interstate 435 and

PARK DISTRICT: Blue River Road, it is connected to the Blue River trail system. This park
is adjacent to train tracks, the Blue River and civil/institutional and office
ESTABLISHED: 1974 uses. The park includes a nice segment of the regional Blue River Trail
ACREAGE: 80.0 acres including a pedestrian bridge over the Blue River. This park doesn’t
provide any protection from the elements and has floodplain issues,
parking pavements are damaged or decaying, and there is not an
PARK AMENITIES accessible route to the soccer fields. It appears to be well mowed but
