SITE LOCATION: E. 94th St. & Troost STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, & OPPORTUNITIES
CLASSIFICATION: Park Legacy West Park is a natural area located at the northeast corner of E.
COUNCIL DISTRICT: 5 93rd Street and Troost Avenue. It lies immediately north of the former
South
PARK DISTRICT: Bannister Federal Complex. It preserves over 15 acres of woodland in
the Indian Creek watershed but provides no park amenities at this time.
ESTABLISHED: 1972 Like its companion park Legacy East, this park could provide great
ACREAGE: 15.1 acres benefits to the adjacent neighborhoods which otherwise lack public
green space. If the City decides to invest in this park, improvements
needed will be:
PARK AMENITIES • KC parks signage
• Sidewalk infrastructure on Troost Avenue and a small parking lot
• Old Park Sign (1) • A park loop trail
• Stream/Creek (1) • Removal of invasive honeysuckle to provide more visibility
• Amenities to draw the public, such as a playground, sprayground,
or a picnic shelter
