Central Park Celebrates Two New Soccer Mini-Pitches

Mini-pitches increase soccer participation and improve the lives of youth

On October 3rd, two new soccer mini-pitches officially opened in Central Park as part of an effort to improve the health and well-being of the region’s youth through soccer. Led by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, several local and national partners teamed up to fund and install these mini-pitches—small, hard-court soccer fields that are uniquely suited for both organized and pick-up play.

Local partners include Kansas City Current; Sporting KC; City of Kansas City; Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. These projects also build on more than 650 mini-pitches the Foundation has installed nationwide on its path to opening 1,000 by 2026. National partners include: adidas, Black Women’s Player Collective, Black Players for Change, Musco Lighting, Target, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation.
