Spoken Word Poetry Live

Special guest presenter Cherayla

Cherayla is an entertainer who has been performing since elementary school. She is Midwest born, but greatly influenced by the East Coast as she called Harlem home for 7 years. She has been singing professionally for over 15 years and has been a featured vocalist in an off-Broadway play and won Amateur Night at the Apollo a few times.

Upon returning to Kansas City, she quickly found her artistic “tribe” and co-hosted, then co-founded two of Kansas City’s most successful open mics, “Soul Sessions” and “One Mic.”  She is a mother of two who relentlessly pursues the arts, including writing and self-publishing her debut novel “Nikki Chronicles” in 2023. A long-time cohost of the popular “Ladies Night Open Mic” at the Parlor in downtown Kansas City, Cherayla now runs “Art: Word + Sound” at Bliss Books & Wine.

Sign-Up for the “Poetry Slam” and compete for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Prizes!
