Outdoor Pools and Water Parks will open May 30; Spraygrounds open as scheduled
Due to unseasonably cool air and water temperatures, as well as forecasted inclement weather, Kansas City Parks & Recreation has made the decision to keep all outdoor swimming pools closed over Memorial Day weekend, May 24 – May 26. The outdoor pools and water parks will officially open for the season on Friday, May 30, 2025.
While we know many residents look forward to the official start of the summer swim season, current and anticipated weather conditions—including cooler daytime highs, low water temperatures, and the potential for rain—pose safety and comfort concerns for swimmers and staff. We understand this is disappointing news, especially for families eager to kick off summer at the pool. However, safety and overall enjoyment are our top priorities, and we appreciate the community’s understanding.
