Sam Lacey played professional basketball for both the Kansas City and Sacramento Kings. Following a very successful career, his jersey #44 was retired by the Kings. Although he had a very successful career in the NBA, his greatest attribute was his commitment to the Kansas City community and the youth of the community. Because of his time, talent and treasure, this gymnasium provided the backdrop for his efforts to enrich the lives of many.
