Bronze Eagle Statue resting on limestone base. Dating from the 18th Century this magnificent eagle monument illustrates a study in realism.  For years it stood in the courtyard of a Japanese temple before being brought to this country. The Japanese Embassy, displayed the eagle in its exhibit at the St. Louis Exposition of 1904.  The J.C. Nichols Company purchased it from a New York art dealer in 1935 and donated it to the City. The giant bronze eagle has a wing span of 14 feet weighs 2000 pounds.
