Enjoying the great outdoors? Don’t let ticks spoil your fun! Here are some tips to prevent tick bites:

1. Wear Protective Clothing: Long sleeves, long pants, and tuck pants into socks.

2. Use Tick Repellent: Apply EPA-registered repellents containing DEET or permethrin.

3. Stay on Trails: Avoid tall grass and overgrown areas.

4. Check for Ticks: Inspect your body, gear, and pets after being outdoors.

5. Shower Soon After Being Outdoors: This can help remove any ticks that may be crawling on you.

Call your healthcare provider if you get any of the following:
*Rash
*Fever
*Fatigue
*Headache
*Muscle Pain
*Joint Swelling and Pain

Most tickborne disease can be treated with a short course of antibiotics. Ticks must bite you to spread their germs. If you have found a tick crawling on you, it’s a sign there may be others: do a careful tick check. A tick needs to be attached to you for different amounts of time (minutes to days) to infect you. Check for ticks daily and remove them as soon as possible. Watch symptoms for 30 days.
