SITE LOCATION: 6601 E. Swope Pkwy. STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, & OPPORTUNITIES
The Former Interpretive Center was renovated in the 1990’s to accommodate
CLASSIFICATION: Other the Starlight ticket window and the Battle of Westport Museum on the main
COUNCIL DISTRICT: 5 level. The upper level housed the Park and Recreation Planning offices. The
building is currently unoccupied. The interior has a small footprint, chopped up
PARK DISTRICT: South into small rooms with the ticket booth in the center, restrooms, 2nd floor access,
YEAR ACQUIRED: 1905 and additional small meeting rooms on the east side. The end rooms once had
fireplaces. This floor could be opened up into larger rooms for events. A kitchen
TOTAL AREA (SF): 14,319 sf could be added. The stairwell has original wood features and continues from
the basement to the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor is laid out with meeting rooms and
PARK AMENITIES offices in good condition. Some of the work areas have low ceilings that are too
low per code. Access to the towers is on this level with finishes in good condition.
• Meeting Rooms The tower top floors are closed off due to deterioration noted on the ceilings
• Office below. The basement has rock foundations with no sign of moisture and the 1st
• Lobby floor was removed and replaced during a renovation with a new concrete and

condition. The exterior masonry is in good condition. Some of the wood detailing
