CLASSIFICATION: Community Center The Kansas City North Community Center was originally constructed
COUNCIL DISTRICT: 4 in 1955 and has been expanded and modified since. The original gym
is now a multi-purpose space with a kitchen. The original stage is now

PARK DISTRICT: the director’s office. A large gymnasium was added with access at a

YEAR ACQUIRED: lower level. A cardio/weight room along with locker rooms were added
on the main level. There is accessibility to the lower level by a chair lift.

TOTAL AREA (SF): Due to the additions and modifications, the interior has a labyrinth flow
through narrow corridors restricting views into the spaces from the
lobby’s central desk. The facility would benefit from strengthening the
PARK AMENITIES connections of the amenities to the central desk. The activity rooms

has a major moisture issue from underground water leaving the carpet
