SITE LOCATION: 4800 Colorado Ave. STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, & OPPORTUNITIES
CLASSIFICATION: Park Blue Banks Park provides a trail connection over the Blue River to
COUNCIL DISTRICT: 3 connect the eastern terminus of the trail along Brush Creek to the Blue
Central
PARK DISTRICT: River trail. This park is located adjacent to industrial land uses, train
tracks, and the river. The concrete trail and pedestrian bridge are in
ESTABLISHED: 1931 very good condition and ADA compliant. This park does not have any
ACREAGE: 37.84 acres signage to identify it as a KC Park, is not easy to get to, doesn’t have any
places to sit, and the entrance is not visible from either trail connection.
Although secluded, the park didn’t show much evidence of unintended
PARK AMENITIES uses or vandalism. Opportunities for Improvement include:
• New updated park and wayfinding signage throughout
• Bridge (1) • Adding bike repair stations
• Multi-Use Trail (1) • Create pleasant places to sit with shade options
